Efficiency and quality to build a new reality where nature and comfort strike the right balance.
A few kilometres away from La Paz, at 3 900 m above sea level, arises Curan Curani, a closed residential area surrounded by magnificent rocky mountains. This urbanization spreads over an area of 1.4 hectares, where besides buildings for residential use there are also swimming pools, sports fields, playgrounds and many pedestrian routes.
The houses, all newly built, feature every comfort that a family requires and excellent quality finishes. However, the most important aspect of this project concerns the Emmedue Building System, considered as a pioneer in Bolivia.
The Emmedue Advanced Building System was chosen for its ability to combine efficiency and building quality, granting the rapid construction of safe buildings with an excellent thermal insulation, earthquake-resistance and high longevity.
Altogether, 20 blocks on five different levels were built, fully carried out with the EPS Emmedue panels. The choice of using the Emmedue System was determined by the characteristics of resistance and quality above mentioned, by its ease of assembly, and the modularity of the Emmedue panels. Actually, given the irregular topographical features of the site where this residential area is located and its consistent growth, it is quite appropriate to use a progressive development method, which is certainly ensured by the modularity of the panels that make up the Emmedue System.
The modular construction method offers the possibility of a significant time saving, an element not to be underestimated since it allows to reduce not only the costs, but also the impact of buildings on the environment.
Over time, the Emmedue System has proved its potential to contribute to lower the impact on the environment during the building phase by cutting
the emissions of CO2 up to 65%, and simultaneously increasing the energy efficiency of the overall sustainability of the buildings carried out with the Emmedue panels. All this is possible mainly because of the thermal characteristics of this special building element.
For this important urbanization project the outstanding versatility of the Emmedue System was also considered, since it allows an absolute design flexibility that makes it easy to obtain any geometric shape. All this allows to carry out buildings that enrich the surrounding landscape, rather than interrupting its harmony. Moreover, the thermal properties of the Emmedue Panel have proved to be very effective to the climate characteristics of this site that, let us recall, is placed at almost 4 000 m above sea level, for which the temperature tends to be rather low.
In addition to what has been said, it should also be stressed that the Emmedue System is particularly effective for regions with exceptionally high levels of seismic activity, as in the case of Bolivia, granting an excellent resistance even to the most damaging earthquakes.
